I began walking towards the stage before my raffle number had even been called.
Halfway there, I suddenly stopped.
What was I doing? They had not announced my number yet.
Then I heard it.
“Number 84!”
That was my number.
The prize was a limousine ride around Toronto and a weekend at a five-star hotel.
Somehow, I had known I would win before the announcement. My gut told me to start walking towards the stage.
That experience stayed with me. It also taught me something important about intuition in business.
Have You Ever Just Known?
Have you ever had a strong feeling that something was right?
Perhaps you met someone and immediately sensed an opportunity. Maybe an idea felt exciting before you had all the facts. You may also have felt uneasy about a decision that looked perfect on paper.
That feeling is often described as instinct, intuition or a gut feeling.
In business, we are encouraged to rely on plans, figures and research. These things are important. However, experience and intuition can also guide us.
Sometimes, a valuable opportunity begins with a quiet inner voice saying:
This is worth exploring.
Intuition in Business
Intuition does not mean making reckless decisions or ignoring the facts.
Instead, it can come from years of experience, observation and learning. Your mind may recognise patterns before you can fully explain them.
For creative entrepreneurs, intuition can help with decisions about:
-
New opportunities
-
Potential clients
-
Creative direction
-
Business partnerships
-
Products and services
-
Pricing and positioning
-
When something needs to change
The key is to listen to your instincts and then support them with practical action.
Recognising a Client’s Potential
I experienced this when I first met a client who later worked with me.
At the time, she felt overwhelmed and uncertain about her next move. She was caught in a cycle and could not see a clear way forward.
However, when she spoke about her business, I sensed that it had real potential.
Her ideas were strong. Her passion was clear. What she needed was structure, direction and support.
My intuition told me that there was something valuable to uncover.
So, we got to work.
Creating Clarity and Direction
We began with a focused two-hour Business Diagnostic Session.
During the session, we explored what was holding her back. We also clarified her vision, goals and ambitions.
A business needs a clear destination. Without one, it becomes difficult to decide which opportunities to follow and what actions to prioritise.
Together, we reviewed:
-
Her current business structure
-
Internal systems and processes
-
Products and offers
-
Potential revenue streams
-
Marketing activity
-
Immediate priorities
-
Long-term goals
This gave her a clearer understanding of how the different parts of her business worked together.
Most importantly, she began to see what needed to change.
Turning Insight Into Action
Intuition may reveal an opportunity, but progress still requires action.
My client committed herself to the process. She completed the work, made changes and began trusting her business again.
After four months, we reviewed her progress.
She told me:
“I finally understand what business is really about.”
Six months into the process, her products were being stocked in upscale stores. She also secured a feature in a major fashion magazine.
The transformation did not happen through intuition alone.
It happened because she combined insight with:
-
Clear goals
-
Practical strategy
-
Stronger systems
-
Consistent action
-
The right support
-
Belief in her business
Trust Your Instinct, Then Investigate
Your gut feeling can be a useful starting point.
However, it should not always be the final answer.
When your intuition points you in a particular direction, pause and explore it.
Ask yourself:
-
Why does this opportunity feel right?
-
What past experience may be influencing this feeling?
-
What evidence supports my instinct?
-
What risks should I consider?
-
What information do I still need?
-
What is the next sensible step?
This approach allows intuition and strategy to work together.
Stop Second-Guessing Every Decision
Creative entrepreneurs often spend too much time questioning themselves.
You may have a promising idea but talk yourself out of it. Perhaps you recognise that something needs to change but continue waiting for complete certainty.
Unfortunately, complete certainty rarely arrives.
Instead, you need enough clarity to take the next thoughtful step.
Trusting yourself does not mean having every answer. It means being willing to listen, investigate and move forward.
What Is Your Gut Telling You?
Think about your business today.
Is there an idea you keep returning to?
Is there an opportunity that feels worth exploring?
Perhaps something in your business no longer feels right. Maybe your offers, systems or direction need to change.
Do not ignore that feeling.
Take time to understand where it comes from. Then combine your intuition with clear thinking and practical action.
Intuition in business can point you towards an opportunity. Strategy helps you turn that opportunity into progress.
Are you ready to gain clarity and understand what your business needs next?
Book a call, and let’s explore it together.
